WHY I WROTE THIS TRILOGY
I wrote The Walking Upright Trilogy to reveal the human beings behind the legends of Karate-Dō. Through historical research and storytelling, these novels explore their struggles, sacrifices, ambitions, and the moments that shaped the art we know today.

Image published by Nadeem Uddin on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, in the Facebook group “Shotokan Path”. Attributed to Gichin Funakoshi, practicing calligraphy in his later years, probably in the mid-1950s. The inscription appears to read Karate-dō Ichiro (空手道一路). Exact date, photographer, and original publication unconfirmed.
